Agreement for Supervision
Please complete the form below to agree to the terms in this information page and to provide emergency information.
Supervisor: Vanessa Bear MSc UKCP reg.
Email: nes@wildandwellbeing.com
I am currently a supervisor-in-training with CSTD Bath
Supervision Approach
I use Hawkins' and Shohet’s Seven-Eyed Model, supervision covers multiple perspectives: it examines the client’s experience, the therapist’s interventions and responses, the therapeutic relationship, the wider context of the work, and the supervisory relationship itself. This comprehensive approach can help therapists gain insight into their practice, identify patterns, and explore alternative ways of working when challenges arise. Within this structure, each supervisory relationship is unique, shaped by the interplay between supervisor and supervisee. Together, we draw upon both of our experiences, knowledge and insight.
Where
Online using Zoom and/or
In person indoors and/or
In person outdoors
When
1 hour, 90 minute and 2 hour sessions available depending on supervisee preference
We will usually meet every 4 weeks (or as agreed), and review frequency in relation to your caseload and professional body requirements.
Review
An informal evaluation will take place every 6 sessions unless otherwise agreed
Payment
Sliding scale based on Green Bottle devised by Alexis Cunningfolk. This scale is not based on income but on financial availability.
Payment to be made within 48h of the session via bank transfer.
Where no payment for the previous session is made, the next consecutive session will be automatically cancelled unless a payment plan is otherwise agreed.
My fees are increased annually informed by various factors including inflation. I give at least 6 weeks' notice of a fee increase and, wherever possible, make it in a steady increment.
If you need to change the payment band from that agreed, we can always discuss it. As I keep a specific number of places per band, it may be that you have to wait until that space becomes available.
Cancellation and late policy
Cancelled with less than 48h notice, the usual band full fee
Cancelled with less than 7 days but more than 48 hours, £12
Cancellation with 7 days or more notice, no fee.
Cancellation charges are applicable no matter the reason.
If you arrive late, the session will still end at the agreed time, and the full fee will be payable
Ending
Either of us may end the supervision relationship with two sessions’ notice, except in circumstances where there are serious concerns about client safety or professional conduct, in which case I may end more quickly and support you to find alternative supervision.
If we decide we are not a good fit, I am happy to help you to find another supervisor if possible
Relationship and contact boundaries
No contact between meetings other than to arrange a meeting. Additional meetings to the usual agreed pattern may be booked where I have availability.
If any dual roles (e.g. colleague, trainer, therapist) exist or arise, we will address them transparently to avoid conflicts of interest.
Leave
I take regular leave to maintain my self care, to avoid burnout and compassion fatigue. This is usually 1 or 2 weeks every 6 to 8 weeks. I also take a full four consecutive weeks per year, usually in August or January.
Additionally, I take training leave to ensure that I maintain my CPD
I give at least 6 weeks' notice of breaks wherever possible.
Confidentiality, records and data protection
I keep brief supervision notes focused on themes and agreed actions and avoid unnecessary identifying details about clients. Notes are stored securely in line with GDPR and my professional and insurance requirements and retained for a minimum of 7 years. I may discuss aspects of our work in my own supervision of supervision to support good practice; my supervisor is bound by equivalent confidentiality. You have the right to ask about how your data is stored and used, and to request access to information I hold about you.
In the event of my serious illness or death, the professional named in my clinical will access your records solely for the purposes of managing or closing my practice.
I generally process your personal data on the lawful bases of contract (in order to provide supervision and manage our agreement) and legitimate interests (for example, to maintain records, manage my practice, and receive supervision of supervision).
In addition to the right to access your information, you may also have rights to request correction of inaccurate information, to request erasure or restriction of processing in some circumstances, and to object to certain types of processing. If you have concerns about how I handle your data, please raise these with me in the first instance. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you remain dissatisfied.
During my training, I will be recording audio of our supervision sessions. Anonymised interview transcript and anonymised sections of the transcript may appear in my academic work. All names and any factors which may identify you will not be included, so confidentiality would be maintained.
The recordings will be stored in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and erased once the above purposes have been fulfilled.
You may withdraw my consent at any time and have the recording erased. If you are in any way uncomfortable about any aspect of the recording process then this will proceed no further and no aspect of your supervision will be in anyway affected.
Outdoor supervision and confidentiality
Outdoor sessions can offer additional considerations about confidentiality. Prior to any outdoor work in public places, we shall discuss how we will manage this in a way that best suits us and protects your and your clients’ privacy as far as possible.
Emergencies
I do not offer an emergency or crisis service. If you become concerned about immediate risk to a client or others, you should follow your organisational/safeguarding procedures and relevant statutory pathways (e.g. emergency services, crisis teams).
I am usually able to offer additional supervision sessions in addition to our usual schedule. You are welcome to email me for availability.
If you are a member of the BACP and have an ethical dilemma, I also recommend their Ethics Hub: https://www.bacp.co.uk/events-and-resources/ethics-and-standards/ethics-hub/
If you are in immediate distress or at risk yourself, please contact your GP, local crisis team or emergency services, or follow your organisation’s staff support procedures
Personal Therapy
While it may not be a statutory requirement for personal therapy as a therapist, there may be times when it is appropriate and may be suggested by me. Supervision is a space for reflection, support, appropriate challenge and ethical consideration; it does not replace line management or personal therapy.
Working online
For online sessions, you agree to join from a private space where you cannot be overheard. If the connection fails, I will attempt to reconnect for up to 10 minutes; if reconnection isn’t possible, we will agree on how to proceed (e.g. rescheduling or continuing by phone).
Complaints and Concerns
If you have concerns about our work together, I invite you to raise these with me so we can address them collaboratively. If we are unable to resolve matters and you remain concerned about my conduct, you may contact my professional body, UKCP, to discuss your options.
You may also seek guidance from your own professional body (for example BACP, UKCP or equivalent) if you are unsure about next steps. I will provide you with any information you need about my registration details on request.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
I aim to offer supervision that is respectful, anti-discriminatory and accessible. I welcome supervisees of all backgrounds and seek to work reflexively with the impact of power, culture, identity, neurodivergence and oppression on both therapeutic and supervisory relationships.
If you require any adjustments to help you access supervision (for example, around disability, neurodivergence, language, culture, caring responsibilities or finances), please let me know so that we can think together about what might be possible.
This agreement sits alongside my broader Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy.
As supervisee, I agree to:
Prepare for the sessions, for example, by preparing notes.
Take responsibility for making effective use of time, including punctuality, the outcomes and any actions I may take as a result of supervision.
Be willing to learn, to develop my skills and be open to receiving support and challenge.
The primary responsibility for complying with the Code of Ethics and Conduct rests with me as the practitioner. I, the supervisee, remain responsible for my own clinical work, decision-making, and compliance with my professional body’s ethical guidelines.
As Supervisor, I agree to:
Keep all information you reveal in the consultative support/supervision sessions confidential, except for these exceptions:
If I feel the consultative support/ supervision arrangements are not providing adequate protection for clients.
Should you describe unsafe, unethical or illegal practice and you are unwilling to go through the appropriate procedures to address these issues.
You repeatedly fail to attend sessions.
In the event of an exception arising, I will attempt to support you directly to deal with the issue appropriately. If I remain concerned, I will reveal the information to your line manager/professional body.
Attempt to resolve any disagreements by negotiation. However, where I feel it is necessary to protect clients, I can contact your line manager and/or professional body.
At all times work to protect your confidentiality but always subject to my duty to report any concerns about the protection of the public and the reputation of the profession to the appropriate regulatory and/or professional body.
Offer you advice, support, and supportive challenge to enable you to reflect in depth on issues affecting your practice.
Use my own supervision of supervision to support and develop my own abilities as a clinical supervisor and clinician.
Agreement
By signing below (or confirming in writing by email), we both agree to work together under the terms set out in this supervision agreement. We can review and amend this agreement by mutual consent if needed as our work develops.
